What does couple counselling involve? What can you gain from Couple Counselling?

A solid commitment to the relationship

It requires commitment from both you and your counsellor to the process, to your relationship and to the journey. Couple counselling is sometimes challenging and requires considerable investment in honesty, application, time and courage

At Couple Counselling for All we recommend that after the introductory session, you make an initial commitment to at least 8 one-hourly, usually weekly, sessions. This will normally be enough to give you a feel as to whether the work is beginning to be fruitful, and to get used to the environment, the counsellor and the style of working. The total number of sessions you are likely to need will depend on how quickly progress can be made and the number of issues to be resolved. It differs enormously from couple to couple

You will get most benefit from couple counselling when the hourly sessions are regular (ideally weekly)

Where face-to-face sessions are not possible for whatever reason, online couple counselling is readily available, and is proving increasingly popular. It is extremely effective and has the added advantage of eliminating travelling time, the need for childcare where that arises, and you are in the comfort and safety of your own home

Although regular, weekly sessions offer the greatest benefit, we appreciate with busy lives that’s not always possible, so there can be some flexibility around the timing of appointments
